91% of all people that walk into the gym say they have the same fitness goal. To lose weight. With that exact goal in mind, I have listed the three most effective steps towards losing weight.

  • STARVE YOURSELF.  Usually staying under 500 calories per day.
  • DEHYDRATE YOURSELF.  Don’t drink any water and minimize all other beverages
  • Do tons of cardio. The more the better. At least 3+ hours per day

That’s It!

If you stick to these 3 steps you will definitely lose weight. Sure you’ll feel horrible, look terrible, and probably end up with several medical issues. But I guarantee you will lose weight! Yes the weight you lose will be almost all muscle and water weight, but your scale won’t know the difference.

We all know someone that has been “successful” on this plan. That girl you see in the company break room every day eating lunch (a carrot). She maybe weighs 120 lbs, does aerobic class 4x per week, and is constantly complaining about how fat she is. Just think, that ridiculous girl could be you. Besides, your doctor said you should lose weight so he should be happy with this program…….Right.

OF COARSE EVERYTHING I’VE SAID UP TO THIS POINT IS ABSURD!

My point is that if you’re part of the 91% (a number I totally just made up) that thinks they want to lose weight I would like to change your mindset. As your cyber-trainer-lifecoach I’m recommending you change your fitness goal from losing weight to losing fat. Yes I know you’re rolling your eyes right now thinking “well duh…..that’s what I meant”. To most, they sound like the same thing. But they’re drastically different.

Let me explain.
Take the break room carrot eater for example. She says she’s fat at 120lbs. You say she’s too skinny at 120lbs. Who’s right? The correct answer…….Both of you. You’re right because this girl needs to gain some muscle weight. She’s right because she’s skinnyfat. Skinnyfat is what happens when you obsess about your weight and have never lifted anything heavier than your smart phone.

NEWSFLASH…….Muscle is your friend.

This isn’t 1950 anymore. Women need to lift weights too (and not just those dinky 3lbs dumbbells in aerobic class). Before you start rolling your eyes at me for the second time in this blog, let me give you the REAL 3 things you need to do to lose fat.

  • Yes, you need to eat right
  • Yes, you need to do some cardio
  • And yes, you need to lift heavy weights

Everything else is FAR less important when trying to lose fat. I know eventually as your cyber-trainer-lifecoach I’ll need to dive into how to do those 3 things.

For today, my goal is to take you out of the 91% and change your mindset from losing weight to losing fat.
